How To Install Shower Waste In Timber Floor

  1. hi all, I accept to fit several shower trays onto a concrete first floor. i would like to fit the tray directly onto the physical so whats the solution for the waste trap? im happy to drill a 40mm hole but dont actually want to brand big openings to accomodate the whole trap, any ideas?
the physical is seven-8 in thick and reinforced. just to exist clear the concrete floor is the ffirst floor above ground level, hiding the pipework below the floor is no trouble
    thanks
  2. You should NOT bury the trap in the floor. The tray MUST be fitted on a riser kit.
  3. can you elaborate on why? the trap would be attainable from below.
  4. if you can assure yourself that there is accesss in case of maintenance, then proceed.
    maintenance is KEY.
  5. cheers for yor input, is maintenance the merely issue then? i had considered that from the beginning. is there anyway to increase the distance from the bottom of the shower tray and the top of the trap? that way the trap would be beneath the concrete floor and even easier to admission from the ceiling below. could a scope P or S trap exist used in some mode?
  6. as well i was trying to work out how does a moisture room waste product installation deal with this problem? there must be some solution out there
  7. how about doing away with the tray and forming a mini wet room?  the showers are enclosed on iii sides.
  8. looks similar you will have to follow the captain'due south advice.
to increase the altitude, you accept to raise the tray (past a distance that you consider appropriate for what y'all want to reach.  You lot can always design your own riser rails.  cheaper and improve if you know what you are doing.

I know for a fact that I will not be also pleased (and it will cost the client considerably more money in labour price) if I am called to a leaking shower only take to 'chop off' plasterboard/ceiling to go to the trap and supercede/repair?  So for me, ACCESS, ACCESS, Admission takes precedence.
If y'all want more than convincing, visit your local ToppsTile counter and they volition give you all the data yous need.
Failing that, get to the Tilers Forum.  there is a lovely chap there called tictic.  He has all the answers, trust me, I am a Doc:)

  9. i hear what your saying but an admission hatch is already installed in the downstairs ceiling.why do you lot have to raise the tray to increase the distance? cant you lower the trap?
  10. you can.  so long equally it drains satisfactorily.
  11. its directly down :) ???
  12. well jack, what else tin can i say M8?
as one of the great men (could even exist that mr Leaky) on here once said:   ''failing to programme is planning to fail''.
you are the one carrying out the installation.  Yeah you can lower the trap.  Merely I say it once again, just and then long as you tin clinch yourself that drainaing will be satisfacory.

what are you proposing anyway?  A walk in type of shower area?  In that case, cutting up floor expanse that will accomodate tray, support base of tray with appropriate material of right thickness so it doesn't flex and your trap will be further down, INNIT

  13. im non sure youve understood what im saying. the floor is concrete and then what suuport is needed for the tray except for a mortar bed? im request how to move the trap further away from the tray, how can this be done?
  14. You could run the waste matter direct downwardly and fit an inline trap under the floor but making large holes in a concrete floor is a very bad thought. Try and find an culling route.
  15. the shower area is enclosed on three sides. the tray is approx 40mm high im happy to accept that height as a step into the shower. i simply want to lower the trap (increase the distance between the trap and the tray, this would obviously need to be a special kind of trap.
  16. it is ok to make holes of any size in the floor merely its difficult to do. tin can yous explain inline trap and how to get a seal between the tray and the pipage piece of work every bit thats what the trap usually does?
  17. 'Course you tin can. Just nip down the plumbers and look at what's bachelor.
